Automation engineering services, from requirement study to AMC
AMADSAS carries an automation project through seven stages — requirement study, design, supply, installation and commissioning, operation, AMC and upgrades — with one engineering team accountable from the first site survey to lifetime support.
Last updated:
Most automation problems come from the gaps between contractors: the designer who never saw the site, the panel builder who never met the commissioning engineer, the integrator who left before the first audit. We close those gaps by keeping design, manufacturing, installation, validation and maintenance in one team of 190+ engineers and specialists, backed by our engineering experience since 2009.
Requirement study and consulting
We start from what the site has to achieve and what is already installed.
- Business objectives and operating constraints
- Site assessment and feasibility
- Technology consultation across protocols and platforms
- Solution roadmap with phased scope
Design and engineering
Architecture, drawings and documents that a contractor can build from and an auditor can follow.
- System architecture, high-level and low-level design
- Electrical, control and network design
- Panel design and documentation in AutoCAD and EPLAN
- Compliance with applicable standards
Supply and procurement
Equipment sourced, built and tested before it reaches site.
- Equipment sourcing from authorised partners
- Vendor management
- Factory acceptance testing (FAT) with the client
- Delivery to site
Installation and commissioning
Our own teams install, integrate and prove the system on site.
- Site installation of panels, field devices and cabling
- System integration with existing equipment
- Testing and commissioning against agreed procedures
- Performance validation
Operation and maintenance
Keeping the system running as designed after handover.
- 24x7 monitoring and support
- Preventive maintenance
- Corrective maintenance
- Performance optimisation
AMC and lifetime support
An annual maintenance contract with a team that knows the system.
- Annual maintenance contract
- Dedicated support team
- Spare parts management
- Continuous improvement
Upgrades and modernisation
Extending or replacing systems without starting again.
- Technology upgrades
- Enhancements to existing functions
- Capacity expansion
- Migration from legacy systems
Installation and cabling
Our installation teams handle the physical work that decides whether a system is reliable: cable trays, cabling, termination and testing, all completed and checked before commissioning starts.
- 01
Cable trays
MS and GI perforated and ladder cable trays, routed and supported to the approved layout.
- 02
Cabling
Laying of power, control, instrumentation and communication cables, segregated by type.
- 03
Termination
Termination in control panels and at field devices, labelled to the cable schedule and drawings.
- 04
Pre-commissioning tests
Continuity checks, insulation resistance (megger) tests and loop checks on every circuit before commissioning.
Computer system validation per GAMP 5
For regulated sites we deliver computer system validation per GAMP 5, with a complete document set that your QA team reviews and approves at each stage.
| Document | Purpose | Stage |
|---|---|---|
| User requirement specification (URS) | States what the system must do, agreed with users and QA | Planning |
| Risk assessment | Identifies GxP risks and sets the depth of testing | Planning |
| Functional specification (FS) | Describes how the system meets each requirement | Specification |
| Design specification (DS) | Details hardware, software, configuration and interfaces | Specification |
| Installation qualification (IQ) | Verifies the system is installed as designed | Verification |
| Operational qualification (OQ) | Verifies functions, alarms, security and audit trail work as specified | Verification |
| Performance qualification (PQ) | Verifies the system performs in routine use at the site | Verification |
| Traceability matrix | Links each requirement to its specification and test | Throughout |
| Validation summary report | Summarises results and deviations and releases the system for use | Release |
Support and AMC
After handover the same engineering team supports the system under an annual maintenance contract, so the people who built it are the people who maintain it.
- 01
Annual maintenance contract
A defined scope of visits, checks and response, agreed per site and renewed annually.
- 02
Preventive maintenance
Scheduled inspection of panels, field devices, servers and networks, with backup and recovery checks.
- 03
Corrective maintenance
Fault diagnosis and repair by engineers who know the system’s configuration and history.
- 04
Spare parts management
Critical spares identified and planned so a failed component does not become a long outage.
- 05
24x7 monitoring and support
Round-the-clock monitoring and support for systems where downtime is not acceptable.
- 06
Upgrades
Software, hardware and capacity upgrades planned with the site, under change control where the system is validated.
Frequently asked questions
Can you take on only one stage, such as commissioning or AMC?
Yes. Each stage can be contracted on its own. Where we did not design or build a system, we start with a survey of its documents and configuration before taking responsibility for it.
Do you work as a subcontractor to EPC contractors?
Yes. We deliver the automation, panel and monitoring scope within a larger project, working to the EPC contractor’s programme, documentation and site procedures.
Where are the panels manufactured and tested?
In our three manufacturing units: Pune and Koregaon Bhima in India, and Abu Dhabi. Panels pass factory acceptance testing, which the client can witness, before dispatch.
What documentation do we receive at handover?
As-built drawings, panel documentation, I/O and cable schedules, test and commissioning records, operation and maintenance manuals and, for regulated sites, the GAMP 5 validation set.
Which certifications does your quality system hold?
ISO 9001:2015 for quality management, ISO 14001:2015 for environmental management and ISO 45001:2018 for occupational health and safety.
How are timelines set?
From the agreed scope, equipment lead times and the site’s access and shutdown windows. We confirm the programme after the requirement study rather than before it.
Let’s start by understanding your facility
Send us a short description of the site and its current systems, and an engineer will come back with clear next steps.
