Electrical Power Monitoring (EPMS)
Real-time visibility of your electrical network, power quality and events
An electrical power monitoring system (EPMS) that shows the live state of the electrical network, analyses power quality, manages alarms and events and reports on consumption for data centres, utilities and large buildings.

What the system does
In a data centre or utility, operators need to know at any moment how power is flowing from the incomers through transformers, switchgear, UPS and DG sets to the load. Without that view, a breaker trip or power quality problem is found after the fact.
Our EPMS connects meters, protection relays, breakers, UPS, STS and DG controllers into one real-time view of the electrical network. It records events in sequence, analyses power quality and turns the data into reports for operations and management.
The EPMS can run on its own or as part of our centralised monitoring platform, next to HSD, chiller plant and BMS data.
- 01
Real-time network monitoring
Live single-line diagrams showing breaker status, voltages, currents, power and energy across incomers, transformers, switchboards, UPS and DG sets.
- 02
Power quality analysis
Monitoring of power quality parameters from capable meters to identify disturbances that affect sensitive loads.
- 03
Alarm and event management
Time-stamped alarms and events with acknowledgement, so the sequence of a trip or transfer can be reconstructed.
- 04
UPS, STS and DG coordination view
Status of UPS, static transfer switches and DG sets on the same screens as the distribution network, for a complete view during a utility failure.
- 05
Analytics and reporting
Energy consumption, demand and trend reports by feeder, area or customer, exportable for management review.
- 06
Open protocol integration
Communicates with meters and devices over Modbus TCP, RS-485, SNMP and OPC UA, with NTP time synchronisation across the system.
Across the automation layers
What the solution does at each layer of your facility.
L1 · Field
Installs or connects to multifunction meters, power quality meters, breaker auxiliary contacts and protection relays.
L2 · Control
Uses gateways and controllers to collect device data over RS-485, Modbus TCP and SNMP.
L3 · Supervision
Runs SCADA screens with live single-line diagrams, alarm and event lists and historian.
L4 · Enterprise
Delivers energy, demand and event reports and dashboards for operations and management.

What it means for operations
Sectors served
- Faster fault diagnosisA time-stamped event list shows what tripped and in what order, shortening investigation after an incident.
- Power issues seen before they spreadPower quality analysis highlights disturbances that put sensitive IT and process loads at risk.
- Capacity decisions on dataLoad and demand trends by feeder show where there is spare capacity and where there is not.
- One electrical pictureUtility, UPS, STS and DG status sit on the same screens instead of in separate vendor tools.
Frequently asked questions
Can the EPMS use the meters already installed in our switchgear?
Yes, where the meters have a communication port such as RS-485 or Ethernet. We audit the installed devices during the site assessment and recommend where additional or power quality meters are needed.
Will it show UPS and DG status as well as the distribution network?
Yes. UPS, STS and DG controllers are connected over Modbus or SNMP and shown on the same single-line diagrams, so operators see the full power path during a transfer.
Can it be combined with HSD automation and BMS?
Yes. On several data centre and campus projects we delivered EPMS together with HSD automation and BMS, all reporting into one centralised monitoring platform.
Who maintains the system after handover?
We offer preventive and corrective maintenance, 24x7 monitoring support and annual maintenance contracts, including spare parts management and system upgrades.
